Back in the 1990s, Ballantyne was nothing, nothing but a hunting preserve owned by the grandchildren of the former governor of North Carolina, Governor Morrison. The grandchildren developed a corporate park, and then the brother-in-law bought out the guy who owned it for 20 million bucks. His name was Bissell, and Bissell developed all of Ballantyne, named it Ballantyne after his aunt, and went ahead and made Ballantyne the suburban metropolis that it is today. He sold everything in Ballantyne for $1.7 billion in 2017.
